Prime Attractions:

Thirunakkara Mahadev Temple:
Built in the indigenous style, the temple features several murals and devotees throng to the place during the annual temple festival held in the third week of March.

Valiyapalli Church:
Built in 1550, this church is dedicated to St. Mary and belongs to Knanaya Orthodox Syrians. It is situated at Thazhathangadi and is famous for its 8th century Persian cross and the Pahalavi inscription on the cross. Nearby is the smaller church of Cheria Palli built in 1579 sporting some murals and paintings on Biblical and other themes.

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary:
12 km from Kottayam town, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary on the banks of the Vembanad Lake is known for local varieties of Waterfowls, Cuckoos and Water Ducks as well as the migratory Siberian Storks.
